Where Chefs Eat: Marcin Przybysz, Epoka

«What do I actually eat on a daily basis? A bit of everything, really – from fine dining to street food to casual spots. I've got children myself, so naturally I end up at places that cater to families as well

My time off is always the same – Sundays and Mondays – which limits my options, since not every place is open then. But when I want to have a proper dinner, try something exciting, or spend the evening with my partner, I'll carve out time for it during the week».

Last week was one of those rare evenings – I went for dinner at my friend Witek Iwański's restaurant, Hub.Praga. It'd been a while – the last time I was there right after the opening. It was a great night – highly recommend the place.

Another fine dining spot I go to regularly is Rozbrat 20. I've known Bartosz Szymczak for ages, and I've eaten there many times. I'm already planning another visit to Rozbrat 20 soon.

That's pretty much it for the fine dining places I visit more than once – but those two are definitely my top picks. I know the chefs, we get along well, there's a lot of mutual respect.

Another one of my go-to spots – a real classic – is Koneser Grill. They're open on Sundays, which is perfect for me. My partner jokes that it's her number one in Warsaw, – says it should have a Michelin star because she enjoys it so much.

Piotr Wójcik runs the place and does an amazing job – great meat, solid fish dishes, fantastic starters. I usually order every single starter on the menu. They've got this incredible blood sausage, a top-notch tartare. I still remember this one dish they did with chorizo and goat cheese on flatbread – it blew my mind.

Then there's Mąka i Woda. In the summer I go even more often, because they fire up the grill. The grilled asparagus they serve is amazing – I was just there two weeks ago for it. Great pizza, good starters, lovely garden, perfect for going there with kids.

When I'm in the mood for something Asian, I head to PaTaThai in Żoliborz, just opposite Kraken. Sundays are best – they've got a kids' animator, so I can book a table near the play area. A casual spot where you can get a solid pad thai, steamed bao buns or curry done right.

A more family-oriented spot I go to with the kids is Villa Riccona, just outside Warsaw. A cozy Italian place in a house-style building – they serve things like Saltimbocca alla Romana in a sage wine sauce. Decent pasta too, – I like mine super al dente.

Also worth mentioning is Yes Bucher in Żoliborz. I remember having a brilliant foie gras crème brûlée there, and their fries are excellent. Good steak too. Michał Gniadek is doing a great job – I'm really happy to see the place thriving and expanding. They deserve it.

And then there's a place I go to just for me – my little secret routine – the kebab spots on Jana Pawła II. I usually finish work late and eat late, so you'll often find me there around midnight.

There's a whole lineup – Sapko, Esnaf, Tendur. I just pick the one with the shortest queue – they're all good.
