The Best New Restaurant Openings of the Past Six Months
Fine dining from the owners of Wandal, a chef-driven neo-bistro by Giacomo Carreca, social breakfasts, and neighbourhood wine bars – BlackGuide.pl have put together the biggest restaurant openings in Warsaw from the past six months.
The Best New Restaurant Openings of the Past Six Months

Tygrys Warszawski, pl. Konstytucji 5
The latest (and perhaps the most beautiful) project from one of Poland’s best restaurant groups, Ferment Group – the people behind Kieliszki na Próżnej, Rozbrat 20, Le Braci, Koneser Grill, and others. The menu takes a mix of Warsaw and Southeast Asia as its starting point, while, as usual, the team has come up with an elegant, highly social interior.
It looks absolutely fantastic, and this is one of those places you really need to see for yourself. I recommend ordering the bean paste with tom yum sauce, katsobushi tonnato, and the Warsaw-Peking duck.

Nów, Pańska 97
The major fine dining opening of the season – highly striking, deeply gastronomic, and unlike pretty much anything else. There’s only one team that could have created something like this: the people behind Wandal, arguably the biggest rebels and visionaries of Warsaw’s restaurant scene right now.
The kitchen team, led by chef Adrian Bęben and sous-chef Piotr Komorski, doesn’t simply showcase Polish terroir in all its beauty – they take it further. Seasoning their ideas with culinary techniques and Nordic accents, they manage to create a gastronomic experience that, at its core, is about much more than food alone. And, of course, this kind of fine dining has to be uncompromising: tasting menus only, with just 20 seats.

Ballaro, Śniadeckich 18
A modern urban neo-bistro and, at the same time, a very personal project by chef Giacomo Carreca.
Bright, highly emotional cooking, a sophisticated interior packed with great details, and an ultra-modern wine list – together, it all works beautifully.
Among the dishes are an oyster with mint and loquat granita, cuttlefish crudo with guanciale, horse tartare with mussels and verbena, and absolutely crazy Iberico pork skewers.

Supperbar, Mickiewicza 21
A new place from the owners of Supperlardo – now in the format of a neighbourhood wine bar. Straightforward, sophisticated, and built around simplicity and quality. There’s also interesting wine, craft hot dogs, and plenty more.
The stylish, slightly scruffy interior, with rough plasterwork and white tablecloths, fits the place perfectly – credit for that goes to the wonderful Metraż studio.
The menu features very well-executed street food made with excellent ingredients – sliders, Austrian sausages, and, of course, the obligatory hot dogs. Plus, a really wonderful selection of wines served in Zalto glasses.

Tables, Ząbkowska 7
A very atmospheric spot in Warsaw’s Praga district that has brought together under one roof pretty much everything a self-respecting foodie could want.
Breakfast until 3 pm, a separate lunch menu, evening dishes designed to pair with natural wines, a decent selection of mocktails, a touch of social polish in the interior, and a terrace overlooking the historic part of Ząbkowska Street – that’s Tables in a nutshell.

W Maśle, Kruczkowskiego 4
Social breakfasts in the morning and an evening sharing-style menu with natural wine – all in an exceptionally attractive (and very beautiful!) location in Solec.
Breakfast is served until 3 pm and includes a take on the croque monsieur, fried eggs on brioche with truffle, granola, omelettes, spreads, pastries, and, of course, the option to add bread and butter.
From 4 pm, the evening menu takes over, with dishes such as beef or tuna tartare, fried zucchini flowers, tagliatelle with Parmesan or truffle, hummus, and a couple of desserts.

Baba Jaga, Wronia 10
A new place from the owners of Nicoletta, Medusa, and BangBang in the gastro cluster at Towarowa 22.
Here, the focus is on modern takes on Polish cuisine – think schabowy with Parmesan foam or beef cheeks with demi-glace and sour cream.
And then there’s the interior: Baba Jaga looks stunning. Concrete columns, metal, ornate plasterwork, hand-painted frescoes, gradient paintings, plenty of air and space, white tablecloths, and tons of greenery – everything feels both sophisticated and accessible.

Niby, Solidarności 64
A chef-driven (and slightly mischievous) neo-bistro by chef Vadim Astori, right by Plac Bankowy. The place looks and feels bloody good: there’s designer furniture, homages to the former Bar Gastronomiczny that used to occupy the space, and even a disco ball.
The original menu focused on unconventional breakfasts and brunches (hello, tortilla with beef tartare and an absolutely wonderful Olive Oil Cake), but from the end of September, they’re launching an interesting evening menu and a great selection of natural wines.

Rondo, Dobra 15
Fancy bagels, a selection of alternative non-alcoholic wines such as Feral and Muri, a great location, and visuals that stick in your memory – that’s what Rondo is all about.
The menu features six recipes for open-faced bagels, from salmon with cream cheese to versions with roast beef or mussels. And then there’s the striking, highly memorable interior, with works by Roman Gelo and arrangements of fresh flowers (and more) by the Bulb project, as well as service that is outstanding even by restaurant standards.
