Controversy Around Bejbi Na Rozdrożu: Owner Accused of Xenophobic Remarks

The situation was described on Threads by Serafim Shimchuk, who visited Bejbi Na Rozdrożu with his wife and two friends from Belarus. According to his account, the group stopped under the café’s shelter to wait out the rain, while Shimchuk bought an espresso. After around 10 minutes, the owner allegedly told them that they could not buy coffee elsewhere and sit under the shelter belonging to his café. Following a brief exchange, the group left.

According to Shimchuk, as they were leaving, the owner shouted after them: «Leave Poland, we don’t want you here». Shimchuk then returned to the café and recorded their subsequent conversation.

In the recording, the owner makes further comments about the group’s background and the way they behave in Poland. At one point, he says: «Maybe this isn’t your f***** fault, but that of your Ukrainian brothers…»

He also questioned the fact that the group was speaking Belarusian among themselves, despite the conversation between him and Shimchuk taking place in Polish.

Shimchuk says he has lived in Poland for eight years and had never experienced a similar situation before.

Following the publication of the video, the story quickly spread among the Belarusian community in Warsaw. 

Users began leaving negative reviews of Bejbi on Google Maps, bringing the café’s rating down to 1.7/5 at the time of writing.

The account of the incident comes from one of the people involved, while the recording captures only the conversation that followed the initial exchange between the two sides.
